The Morphophysiology of the Cerebral Vascular Event (CVE)
Descripción: Cerebrovascular disease is a growing health problem in countries experiencing the so-called epidemiological transition. This contrasts with that observed in developed countries where in the last four decades the incidence of cerebral vascular disease has consistently declined, while it has almost doubled in developing countries. This phenomenon seems to parallel the increase in the elderly population and the progressive pattern of the frequency of risk factors for atherothrombotic vascular disease such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and dyslipidemia, among others. Currently, cerebrovascular diseases in Mexico should be considered as a priority health problem. The trend registered in recent years shows a continuous increase in mortality due to this condition that occupied, in 2010, the sixth place among the main causes of death.
